Rather than doing my normal patrol at Lake Pueblo State park I, instead, motored South to Walsenburg, Colorado and from there went West on highway 160 to Lathrop State Park. I have never been there before so I was very interested at what I may find. The sky was a little cloudy as I drove down and that made me worry a little about photo opportunities. Located three miles west of Walsenburg, Colorado on Hwy. 160 Lathrop State Park sits on the high plains at an altitude of 6200 ft. The park features two large lakes, Horseshoe and Martin which offer boating, swimming and fishing. Other activities include hiking, biking, archery and camping facilities. Lake Pueblo State Park is really greening up. The problem with that is it gives the birds great hiding places. Another good day in terms of seeing and hearing birds but not so great in the photography department. With Summer just two weeks away I thought it was time to publish my Spring Gallery. Still staying close to home so Lake Pueblo State Park is what I am showing. It has been a particularly wet Spring so things got really green really fast.
