Environment:Start Time: 11:15 AM Temperature: 56 degrees Sky: Sunny with occasional breeze. With the Bald Eagles back on the scene I headed out early to Lake Pueblo State Park with visions of ending 2022 on a grand scale with dozens of captures of the mighty raptor. Nope. There wasn’t much bird activity at all except for one White-breasted Nuthatch who did not have time to pose. Today’s featured image of a juvenile Cooper’s Hawk was shot today but not on my walk. I spotted him early this morning in my backyard keeping a close eye on my bird feeder –…

Environment:Start Time: 3:05 PM Temperature: 49 degrees Sky: Sunshine and clouds. A later afternoon outing found me on the South bank of the Arkansas River today. I switch banks on afternoon walks since that puts the Sun at my back as I walk along the river. What I don’t like is that there isn’t a good loop to walk so I have to travel the same country out and back which bothers me for some reason. Even so, I got some interesting shots in both directions. For one thing I got a new bird. Posted below is a Mountain Pipet…

I continue to make progress recovery-wise. I think I am virus clear buy am remaining in isolation for safety’s sake. Here is a look back at what was happening last year. Environment:Start Time: 9:05 AM Temperature: 46 degrees Sky: Sunshine with few clouds. Pleasantly warm temperature lured me back to the morning shift and my regular route today. A pretty nice selection of avian subjects were around though not many who were interested in being posted on the Internet today. Today’s featured image (above) is a Killdeer who I surprised on the river bank before he could hide. Below is…

December 05, 2020 Re-post

I’m into day seven of my ten day Isolation sentence – starting to feel a lot better. Once again a retro-post with some pretty cool Kingfisher shots form this day in 2020. Environment:Start Time: 11:30 AM Temperature: 51 degrees Sky: Sunny, no clouds, light breeze Spectacular weather continues. I’m not sure why the birds are making themselves so scarce. Maybe the continued presence of Red-Tails and Kestrels has something to do with it – not sure. That is not to say that today’s photo efforts went unrewarded. I managed to spot a male Belted Kingfisher perched along the Arkansas River…
