The Osprey were busy flying high and I did see one of the Cooper’s Hawk youngsters but I got no images of any of them. Only one of the fledgling Cooper’s Hawks was visible this morning and it continued its practice of perching in the shade. Last night’s rain made for some muddy trails this morning at Lake Pueblo State Park though the puddles were not as bad as I expected. There was a bit more activity in the bird world today. At one point checking the sky I could see five soaring Osprey with only a slight turn of my head. I guess they are all up in the sky to avoid those Attack Western Kingbirds that were around yesterday. Environment:Start Time: 6:50 AM Temperature: 64 degrees Sky: Sunshine with few clouds. After a few days off for a holiday trip I am back on the trail. Very warm and sunny – so much so that I found myself wishing for one of those breezes that I complained about in February. Lake pueblo State Park seems to have survived the Fourth of July in pretty good shape. The only Osprey action I saw came from a group of four Western Kingbirds driving one of the bigger birds from its perch over the Arkansas River. Pictured below is my first close-up…
