It was really chilly in Rock Canyon this morning. When I arrived there was some hazy fog drifting over the frosty ground and rising from the fishing pond and River surfaces. Kind of spooky for a Halloween morning. Speaking of spooky, today’s featured image is a shot of the Western Grebe that is visiting the fishing pond complete with red, red eyes. Now, they are not as red as a Wood Duck’s but still pretty noticeable. I guess I got a new bird today in the form of the Ruby-crowned Kinglet pictured below. And the Cooper’s Hawk juvenile pictured here was some distance away and being harassed by a group of Starlings who, for some reason, did not appreciate its presence. I heard a report of an Osprey sighting, I saw none.

Sightings:
Birds: Mallards, Gulls, Starlings, Northern Flickers, Belted Kingfishers, White-crowned Sparrows, American Robins, Great Blue Heron, Western Grebe, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Turkey Vulture, Cooper’s Hawk
Critters: Mule Deer, Tree Squirrels
Gear: Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II, Lumix 100-400mm; Olympus EE-1 Dot Sight
