As afternoon walks go – this one was pretty special. Three raptors in one session is cool but to capture one with a fresh kill is really exciting. And that is the tale of today’s featured image – an adult Cooper’s Hawk holding onto what looks like a Woodpecker. I got a couple of shots before it decided to take its business (and its dinner) elsewhere. The American Kestrel pictured here was also not so pleased with my presence and it gave me a long hard look. The same goes for the Great Horned Owl that I finally found well hidden in a tree.
