Yesterday it was a Great Blue Heron that took over the post – today it is mostly a Belted Kingfisher. This little guy was posted up way across the river struggling to get the large (relatively) fish he had just caught in the right position to swallow. A small Kingfisher at over 50 yards away is not the easiest bird to photograph. So the pictures aren’t that hot but do tell the tale. He finally flew off with the fish to a place where the swallowing would be easier. The featured is a Common Goldeneye Drake who was swimming by between the Kingfisher and I.
