I took a chance and went back out to Rock Canyon one day after a pretty good snow storm a day before. The temperatures had risen nicely throughout the day so I figured the trails would be passable. This turned out to be true for the paved trails but everywhere else the conditions could only be called Swampy! There was standing water or mud an inch or two deep. It was a tough slog. So I didn’t stay long. I did manage to see the Eastern Bluebird who got the featured position up top. There were a good number of these flitting about – not sure what the attraction is. I shot my favorite Great Horned Owl – I kind of think it is a male – and he has called me over the last couple of times I’ve been out. The only other cooperative bird was the Blue Jay down below. There were also quite a few of them on the prowl.
