Spring is really starting to kick in out on the Rock Canyon trails. I guess taking a couple of days off made the birds a little less shy. Two of the really not shy ones are the two American Kestrels pictured here doing a little family planning on a precarious perch. I also saw my first butterflies today. Today’s featured image is a Song Sparrow who took just long enough to check me out to allow for a nice capture. No songs were sung. My other nest checks found an adult Red-tailed Hawk checking out the nest used last year (below) and I did see the female Great Horned Owl in her nest, too. I did not post the owl picture because all I could see was here rear end sticking up out of the nest. Not real lady-like.
