Considering that some quickly arriving and pretty thick clouds cut my walk short this morning I’m surprised at the number of shots that I came home with. Right off the bat I came across a Wood Duck couple who were very focused on finding a nest site for this year’s brood. They are the featured image of the day along with a shot of the hen making a landing on another high perch to get a better view of the area. I saw several American Kestrels – two of whom are in images at the bottom of this post. One was having breakfast while the other was doing its best to convince a Red-tailed Hawk to perch somewhere else. There were also a lot of male Red-Winged Blackbirds chattering loudly most likely to attract the attention of any females in the area.
