Another stellar morning. Essentially clear skies, 60 degrees and no wind as we set out at 6:45.
Really a lot of bird activity today. I started out by going back to the spot where I saw the Green Heron yesterday. He was not there but I did get some shots of another Wren and a Great Horned Owl. Then for the second act of the day’s outing I first went by the Osprey nest (nothing happening) and then circled around to the fishing pond. On that route I got pictures of a Viceroy Butterfly (today’s featured image), a Field Sparrow, a White Breasted Nuthatch and a Great Blue Heron. The best shots of the bunch were the afore mentioned butterfly and a couple of the heron shots which are posted below. The other shots just lacked zip – you can’t win ’em all.

Birds: Osprey, Starlings, Cormorants, Great Blue Heron, Mallard Ducks, White Breasted Nuthatch, Field Sparrow, Wren, Great Horned Owl, Barn Swallows, Flickers, Canvasback Duck (possible)
Critters: Mule Deer, Squirrel, Viceroy Butterfly
