Flicker at Lake Pueblo State Park, Colorado

A much nicer day for casual birding while waling in the park. Less haze, more sun, less humidity and more birds made for an excellent morning. Though there were not many of the larger birds around I did get a shot of a Flicker and a Juvenile American Robin. The real highlight was when I caught sight of a Long-billed Thrasher rummaging through some of the low brush along the Arkansas River. Not that I knew at the time that it was a Long-billed Thrasher – I only determined that when I got home and was able to run the one miserable frame I got (today’s featured image) through Google Lens. I don’t often see these birds around and it was great to get something a little out of the ordinary. You can only shoot so many Flickers.

Sightings:
Birds: Osprey, Barn Swallows, Starlings, Mallard Ducks, Long-billed Thrasher, Robins, Blue Jay, Cormorant, Killdeer, Mourning Dove
Critters: Squirrel, Mule Deer

Gear: Nikon D5100, 55-300mm lens
