Western Bluebird at Lake Pueblo State Park in Colorado

After several days of dicey weather and a rather cold morning I finally managed to make it out to Lake Pueblo State Park this afternoon. Gorgeous day for walking about. Apparently it was not such a great day for flying about – since the avian activity was very subdued. The walk started out with a little excitement – I got a fuzzy shot of a Western Bluebird right off the bat. I have been identifying these birds as Mountain Bluebirds but further research has shown me the error of my ways. Another interesting sight along the trail was a Cabbage Butterfly fluttering around on November 11th. The walk was topped off with a shot of a sleeping Great Horned Owl spotted with the help of a fellow park visitor. Today’s featured image is of a Song Sparrow who was very patient with my spying.

Sightings:
Birds: Mallard Ducks, Song Sparrows, Chickadee, Red-Tailed Hawk, Dark-Eyed Juncos, Western Bluebird, Great Horned Owl
Critters: Cabbage Butterfly

Gear: Lumix GX-85, 100-300 mm
