Starting to get cool again. Temperature kept me waiting this morning but finally decided to break into the forties so I could walk. Even at the lower temp it was a great day to walk. I can’t say the same for bird or scenic photography. Not that I came home empty handed. Posted below is about the best shot of Bufflehead Ducks that I’ve been able to capture. This group was far enough away that they didn’t feel obligated to fly away the second I arrived on scene. I got a shot of another couple of ducks (today’s featured image above) that I thought might be female Mallards but I was not positive. After researching the shot on the Internet I discovered that they are GadWall Ducks. So, even on a slow day I am still able to add birds to my personal sightings list.

Sightings:
Birds: Starlings, Mallard Ducks, Gulls, Canada Geese, Bufflehead Ducks, Gadwall Ducks, Song Sparrows, Western Grebe, Red-Tailed Hawk, Black-Capped Chickadee, Belted Kingfisher, Hutton’s Vireo, Flicker
Critters: Squirrels, Mule Deer

Gear: Nikon D5100, 55-300mm lens
