Environment:
Start Time: 11:30 AM Temperature: 51 degrees Sky: Sunny, no clouds, light breeze

Spectacular weather continues. I’m not sure why the birds are making themselves so scarce. Maybe the continued presence of Red-Tails and Kestrels has something to do with it – not sure. That is not to say that today’s photo efforts went unrewarded. I managed to spot a male Belted Kingfisher perched along the Arkansas River AND on the same side of the river as me! He (it was a male) was quite content to sit on a branch and take in the fine weather. I shot quite a few frames of this “activity” – one of which is posted below. After a while he darted off the branch and swooped over the surface of the river and was gone. But I managed to grab a shot of the dive and that is today’s featured image.
