This morning I decided to forgo my normal hike in the Rock Canyon area at Lake Pueblo State Park and go, instead, a little further out to the Wildlife Area that is just West of Lake Pueblo. My thinking was that there might be a different variety of birds out in this less peopled landscape. Because I was going to this alternate area I decided to try using a vintage Minolta 200 mm MC Tele Rokkor lens. I figured that any birds I found (really hoping for an Eagle or two) would be further out from whatever trail I was walking so a zoom would not really gain me anything. I think from now on I may try not thinking so much. This area is really dry and filled with lots of Rabbitbrush, Yucca and Juniper trees (in various stages of the life cycle.) Oh, and VERY few birds. Next time I go I will take a wider angle lens so I can work with the prairie foliage and the open space. So today’s featured image is an example shot, taken with my phone, of the overall scene. Below I have posted the better of my efforts at Winter prairie scenic photography.
