This is the first day of Winter but you wouldn’t know it by standing at the Anticline Fishing Pond at Lake Pueblo State Park. Snowshoes not required. The pond, which has been frozen over, is starting to thaw but not enough to attract any water fowl back to its calm water. Today’s featured image (above) is a “scenic” shot from the trail along the banks of the Arkansas River. Still some leaves hanging on despite yesterdays buffeting wind. As for birds, they were more plentiful than yesterday and generally more cooperative than usual. None of the big birds were out but I got decent shots of a Dark-Eyed Junco and a Yellow-Rumped Warbler so I really can’t complain.
Sightings:
Birds: Mallard Ducks, Canada Geese, Common Goldeneye Ducks, Gadwall Ducks, Yellow-Rumped Warbler, Dark-Eyed Juncos, hawk
Critters: Mule Deer
Gear: Lumix GH4, 45-150mm
