A chilly day finally moderated sufficiently to allow me to hit the trail this afternoon at Lake Pueblo State Park. I was surprised at the number of other visitors who also managed to make it out as well. Snow is only present in the most shadowy areas and the trails are mostly mud free. As usual, I did not see any Eagles and the Owls are also staying out of sight. My Belted Kingfisher buddy was quite active and kept well out of range. As luck would have it I did spot a Great Blue Heron on the river bank and I managed to capture a number of good shots, one of which is posted below. I was hoping it would take flight since he appeared kind of restless and was moving around quite a bit. In the end it was me who was the more restless of us because I abandoned the scene first. The other “cooperative” subject I shot was an American Coot who is today’s featured image – above.
