Made an early start once again this morning. Weather predictions are for record April heat today and gusty winds. The most interesting bird activity happened right at the start of my walk. There was a Red-tailed Hawk perched up on one of the (too) many power lines that cut across the park. This is not anything unusual except that today an American Kestrel was buzzing and thumping the hawk relentlessly. All of this was taking place at a good distance so the picture I got is low quality but shows the Kestrel making a score on the bigger bird. It didn’t take long for the hawk to decide he’d had enough and he headed West toward the Dam. The Kestrel was kind enough to escort this interloper well out of the area. Otherwise it was a typical early Spring Morning. Lots of Starlings – today’s featured image is a group of them taking flight at my approach.
