Predicted late afternoon wind (and “possible” rain) got me out for a morning walk today. I adjusted my walk to take me past the Osprey nest that sits just outside the Swim Beach grounds. I saw one of the current tenants out snapping nesting material off the tops of some trees early on and when I made it to the nest I saw both birds engaging in an intimate moment. I guess if you are going to fix up a nest – may as well have something to put in it. Today’s image postings were all shot on my way out of Lake Pueblo State Park. I had the car window down as I drove along and I heard the song of a Meadowlark. After some looking around I finally spotted him high up in a tree. Posted here is not a great picture but acceptable considering I shot if from the driver’s seat of my car. After that I was headed down Reservoir Road when I saw that Pikes Peak was beautifully snow capped and it was still early enough that the dam was also well lit. So I pulled over and shot another version of one of my favorite scenes in the park – today’s featured image. And then I saw first one, then another and then another Prairie Dog running around near where I had been shooting. There’s a whole Prairie Dog Town! Posted below is one of my new little friends.
