I decided to change things up a little this morning. Rather than doing my normal patrol at Lake Pueblo State park I, instead, motored South to Walsenburg, Colorado and from there went West on highway 160 to Lathrop State Park. I have never been there before so I was very interested at what I may find. The sky was a little cloudy as I drove down and that made me worry a little about photo opportunities. This worry turned out to be for nothing. Since I was a newcomer to this park I took my walk along the shore of Martin Lake on mostly paved trail. I was very impressed with the variety of wildflowers that were blooming all around. The slight overcast allowed me to catch some very nice sky color over the lake – today’s featured image (above). I did not find a lot of birds but I was captivated by the landscape and so was not totally attentive to the birds. Posted below is the one bird I did capture – a Western Wood Pewee. I took a lot of photos which I have posted in another section available to view here. The trip was well worth the effort and I plan to return soon to try out more of the available hiking trails.
