Double Crested Cormorant at Lake Pueblo State Park, Colorado

Ignoring the terrible wildfire haze this morning, walking conditions were pretty nice. The morning sunshine, such as it was, presented me with a pleasant view of the Anticline Fishing Pond with Liberty Point in the background which has turned out to be today’s featured image. I managed to catch a few birds posing in the Sun – posted are a Canada Goose, a Double Crested Cormorant and (below) a female Red-winged Blackbird. There were quite a few Osprey perched all around my route and all they were doing was chirping at each other. One of the birds appeared to be practicing breaking branches from the tree tops – not sure if this is how they learn to fish or what.
