Check out last year’s walk on this day!
Another typical morning at Lake Pueblo State Park. Autumn continues to take charge and things are certainly getting cooler. Supposed to be a lot of wind later today but my walk was only a little breezy. I managed to get a few good bird photos today as well. Today’s featured image (above) is a Blue-winged Teal in flight over the Arkansas River. I like this shot because you can get a good look at the blue wing feathers that probably have something to do with the bird’s name. The Killdeer were quite active (and quite vocal) this morning – posted below is one of them in flight. There was also a surprise appearance of a small group of American Robins one of which also earned a place on the Internet in this post. Below is an “across the river” shot of one of the fire damaged trees from the 2018 Stonemoor fire. If you look closely you can see a Great Blue Heron perched about half way up.

Sightings:
Birds: Mallards, Blue-winged Teal, Northern Flicker, Gulls, Great Blue Heron, Killdeer, Blue Jay, Canada Geese, Double Crested Cormorant, Belted Kingfisher, American Robins, European Starlings, Turkey Vulture
Critters: Prairie Dogs, Grasshoppers, Cabbage Butterfly
