European Starling at Lake Pueblo State Park, Colorado

Quickly deteriorating weather greeted me this afternoon. I didn’t do a morning walk because of pretty heavy cloud cover. The Sun finally popped out and burned off those clouds but by the time I started my walk clouds were building back in from the West. I don’t know if the birds at the park had already hunkered down ahead of the coming change in climate but they were noticeably not present. I did catch a European Starling checking out a hole in a tree in advance of the coming nesting season. Today’s featured image is a Mule Deer who posed perfectly in the setting sunlight. Below is another shot of a Pied-billed Grebe this time swimming through the reflected sky.

Sightings:
Birds: Mallards, Gulls, Canada Geese, American White Pelican, Pied-billed Grebe, American Coot, Northern Flickers, Sparrows, Dark-eyed Juncos, American Robin
Critters: Tree Squirrel, Mule Deer

Gear: Nikon D5600, 55-200mm
