Environment:
Start Time: 8:00 AM Temperature: 44 degrees Sky: Clouds and Sun.
Morning temperatures continue a warmish trend which got me out on the trail for an early walk. I can’t say that the warmth had the same effect on my bird buddies. Kind of quiet this morning with the Osprey keeping an especially low profile. Pictured here is one of a pair of Black-necked Stilts I spotted carefully checking out the Arkansas River. I think these guys are just passing through. I also found a Mourning Dove sunning itself right next to the trail. Today’s featured image is a Wood Duck drake sampling the waters of the River – I hope he found the vintage acceptable.

Today’s bottom mini-gallery needs a little extra explanation. I was watching a pair of Cooper’s Hawks working on their nest and one of them flew to a perch close by my location. S/He grabbed a twig (first picture) and snapped it right off (second picture) and then returned it to the nest for installation.
