American Kestrel at Lake Pueblo State Park, Colorado

Not so much excitement this morning as there was yesterday. Pictured here is the one and only juvenile American Kestrel left on the treetop. He looks like he is wondering where everyone went. Today’s featured image is a pair of Mule Deer doe that I caught wading up the Arkansas River – snacking as they went. There was a young buck following but I couldn’t get them all in one frame. While I was shooting the deer a Flycatcher (Brown-crested?) was also harvesting the river’s bounty and hovered just long enough for me to catch him in the act.

Sightings:
Birds: Mallards, Osprey, European Starlings, Double-crested Cormorants, Western Kingbirds, Eastern Kingbird, Mourning Doves, Bullock’s Oriole, Swallows, Barn Swallow, House Wren, Common Grackle, American Kestrels, Red-winged Blackbirds, American Robins
Critters: Cabbage White Butterfly, Prairie Dog, Mule Deer

Gear: Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II, Panasonic Lumix 100-300mm
