Western Kingbird at Lake Pueblo State park, Colorado

The Owl Tree was back in business this morning providing today’s featured image of a Great Horned Owl blending in – or trying to. I’m not sure but I don’t think he was as happy to see me as I was to see him. The young Cooper’s Hawk was still sitting in pretty much the same area as it has been for several days. I didn’t take another picture because we’ve all seen that. I did see either one of the adult Cooper’s Hawks or one of the kids being chased away by four smaller birds – so maybe Mr. Stay at Home has the right idea. Pictured here is a Western Kingbird working an open space and then (bottom of post) taking off to literally grab a bite. Also having a leisurely breakfast was a young Mule Deer buck who seemed unconcerned by my proximity.
