Yesterday’s Cooper’s Hawk stars were nowhere to be found this morning. Never fear, a Great Blue Heron (or maybe two) stepped in to grab the morning light and my attention. Today’s featured image and the one at the bottom of this post are the same bird but I’m not positive about the identity of the one in the middle – I wish they wore name tags. I know I am accusing the Heron in the photo below of dancing in the caption but really it was struggling a little with its balance on that small, slippery perch in the middle of the Arkansas River.
