Autumn Color at Lake Pueblo State Park, Colorado

Stunning conditions prevail at Lake Pueblo State Park. Walking conditions, that is. Birding remains lack luster unless you are interested in Starlings and Robins. Below is another Pied-billed Grebe in the river shot. I spent awhile shooting this guy (?) hoping to get a shot of it coming up from a dive with something tasty in its mouth, but no luck. Today’s featured image is a Great Blue Heron who broke from the river bank and flew in front of what is most certainly the worst possible background. If you look closely you can make him out. Otherwise I shot some Autumn color which was not easy with telephoto equipment. Next time I go out I’ll be more appropriately equipped.

Sightings:
Birds: Mallards, Osprey, European Starlings, Double Crested Cormorants, Canada Geese, Ring-billed Gulls, American Robins, Red-winged Blackbirds, White-crowned Sparrows, Great Blue Heron, pied-billed Grebe
Critters: Cabbage White Butterfly, Grasshoppers, Mule Deer, Prairie Dogs, Tree Squirrels

Gear: Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II, Panasonic Lumix 100-300mm
