After three days of brutally low temperatures and even some snow I finally made it out to the park for a walk. Trails, both paved and not, were mostly snow covered which made for some heavy slogging to make any progress along the way. Activity, both human and animal, was pretty low. I did catch a Great Blue Heron and an American Coot working the Arkansas River for whatever it had to offer. The best part of today’s trip came at the end while I was driving home. I spotted a group of Wild Turkeys working an open field just off Thatcher Avenue. I managed to find a nearby parking spot and walked back to capture both today’s featured image and the group shot at the bottom of this post. I usually only see Turkeys on Summer mornings so this was a real treat.
