Northern Shrike at Lake Pueblo State Park, Colorado

Even warmer conditions out on the trail today which brought out a few more birds and some more fishermen (though, it being Friday may have helped that a little.) The trails are mostly clear except for the paved section on the North side of the Osprey Picnic Area which are still quite sloppy. It was kind of a small bird day (at least photographically) with captures of a Northern Shrike, pictured here, and the two other perched examples at the bottom of the post. I did see some of the bigger, sexier, birds out but none of them could be bothered to pose in a convenient spot. I’m kind of taking it easy on the Owls since this is their romantic time of year and I don’t want to disturb any important goings-on.
