Environment:
Start Time: 3:00 PM Temperature: 46 degrees Sky: Sunshine with biting breeze.

A quick burst of afternoon sunshine broke through the gloom that had started the day so I took a chance and headed out to Lake Pueblo State Park to have a quick look around. I ended up not walking around so much and opted instead to move around in my car and try for some surgical birding. I guess the results were better than yesterday but the light was pretty inconsistent. The featured image is a Great Horned Owl that I finally spotted snoozing high up in a tree. Below I have posted what I think is a Red-tailed Hawk despite certain physical evidence to the contrary.

Sightings:
Birds: Common Goldeneye, Mallards, Gulls, Starlings, American Coots, Red-tailed Hawk, Great Horned Owl
Critters: Prairie Dogs, Tree Squirrel, Mule Deer

Gear: Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II, Lumix 100-300mm

Hawk at Lake Pueblo State Park, Colorado
I think this is a Red-tailed Hawk even though its tail lacks a certain hue. March 01, 2023
