Environment:
Start Time: 9:15 AM Temperature: 36 degrees Sky: Mixed sunshine and clouds with varying breeze.
The temperature was more seasonal this morning because the Sun and a bank of clouds were battling it out for dominance. Finally, at the three quarter point of my walk, the Sun triumphed leaving me with the ability to leave a good Yelp review of the morning. I ended up having two pretty good photo sessions with some not-to-cooperative birds. The first session was with the two Cooper’s Hawks nesting on the East end of the canyon. I got a number of good shots like the one of the perched male on the right and the take-off shot below. A little later a Great Blue Heron teased me by circling the Arkansas River – I assume looking for a landing spot – but eventually it opted to go further upriver. But I did get a few more in-flight shots one of which is today’s featured image. To finish off today’s post is a Red-breasted Merganser who was also enjoying the river.
