Environment:
Start Time: 6:40 AM Temperature: 55 degrees Sky: Sunshine and some clouds.
Things are still pretty subdued out on the trail. The Arkansas River continues to swell with only Geese, Cormorants and (2) Mergansers willing to test their luck. All of the hawk nests are still quiet. Some added color showed up today with some Yellow Salsify blossoms soaking up the morning sunshine. Pictured here is a Common Merganser drake flapping the river off of its wings while his mate powders her nose in the background. Today’s featured image is a scenic of the burn scar from the 2018 Stonemoor fire. The park people have been working hard to clear out the dead trees but still have a way to go. I took the shot mostly to show off the morning light and to prove that we sometimes do have clouds in the sky.
