Environment:

Very quiet on the trail today. What birds I saw were keeping their distance. Those that I managed to photograph (2) made it as difficult as possible. Pictured here are what is probably a Cooper’s Hawk and a female Belted Kingfisher. The hawk was in some sort of squabble with another hawk and the kingfisher was late for an appointment. Featured up top is a blast of Autumn color – I’m only certain that it is not Cottonwood.

Birds: Mallards, Canada Geese, Gulls, Starlings, Northern Flickers, Great Blue Herons, Killdeer, Sparrows, Belted Kingfisher, Cooper’s Hawk, Wild Turkeys
Critters: Cabbage White Butterflies, Mule Deer, Prairie Dogs
