Environment:
Start Time: 4:10 PM Temperature: 45 degrees Sky: Bright sunshine.

The super cold morning temperature convinced me to wait until late afternoon to take my tour of Lake Pueblo State Park. I was very surprised to see little evidence of yesterday’s snow. I thought it would be wet and muddy out on the trail but everything was quite dry. The cold snap has really dulled the color of the leaves – today’s featured image is getting a color boost complements of the setting Sun. Pictured here are two pictures (front and back) of the same Great Horned Owl. I first spotted the back view which really shows how well owls can blend into their surroundings. At post bottom is a Great Blue Heron who did not feel the need to blend in.
