Environment:
Start Time: 2:50 PM Temperature: 59 degrees Sky: Sunshine.
An afternoon walk was the obvious choice for today’s return to the trails at Lake Pueblo State Park. The predicted 60 degree afternoon temperature was much more appealing than the actual 18 degree morning temp. There still is not a lot going on wildlife-wise. I did manage a lucky sighting of the Great Horned Owl who is today’s featured image up top. I held off on the cropping to demonstrate how tough it can be to spot these guys even when the trees are bare. At post center I have two shots of the same female Belted Kingfisher. The side shot is of her just landing on the perch and seeming to laugh at the poor human fisherman who got his line tangled in the tree branch. Below is her taking flight after a brief rest period. Even though the bottom picture is a lowly Field Sparrow the low level lighting of the setting Sun was so nice I could not resist taking the shot. It’s good to be back.
