It finally happened. January’s harsh weather and my immune system have allowed me to get 2024 officially underway. I’m not saying January made it easy. Even with the warmish temperature the wicked breeze (aspiring wind) made tromping around the trail pretty close to miserable. Things started out well enough with the American Kestrel pictured here but not much else seemed to be happening. One Cooper’s Hawk made a wide circle around me and then flew on. So I decided to cut things short and headed for the car. As I arrived back at the parking lot I saw four Red-tailed Hawks circling and careening above the wall of Rock Canyon. They were making passes at each other and talking up a storm. Before I could get a clear shot two of the birds headed North so I only got to shoot two of them. Featured is a shot of one of these and below is a group shot of some of the fun. So, things are looking up.
