Frigid conditions still holding me indoors here in 2024. Here is another walk down memory lane from this day in 2021. Hope to be back soon.
The temperature finally reached a level that I deemed “walkable” with only a mild breeze so I made it out of the house this afternoon for a good long walk. I came today carrying the appropriate ee quipment for getting some bird photos. Today’s featured image of an American Kestrel demonstrates that I made a good decision. I was also lucky enough to catch a Greater Yellowlegs poking around the Arkansas River – his portrait is posted below. The one thing that struck me as I walked was the noticeable absence of the birds that are almost always present this time of year – Sparrows and Juncos. I guess they have all moved into town to eat at my backyard bird-feeder.
