The juvenile Black-crowned Night Heron that I caught yesterday was still hanging around this morning. Only this time it was on my side of the river. He (?) was nestled into the branches of some of the low bushes that border the Arkansas River which made shooting a challenge. But I think I came away with some good stuff. I hope this one hangs around for a while. The other “exciting” capture of the morning was the Pied-billed Grebe that I caught eating what it had just caught – a fish that was about as big as the grebe’s head. Also posted today are a male Downy Woodpecker and a Common Goldeneye hen in flight.
