Yet another bright, beautiful day greeted me this morning at Lake Pueblo State Park. The Starlings were the most active birds out today (except for the non-stop Swallows) who, like the Osprey, were working hard on their nests. I saw one Osprey rip a branch off the top of a tree but then drop its prize to the ground – plenty more where that came from. Like I said the Swallows were out but staying pretty high up either flying or perching. Pictured here is a Swallow buzzing a perched Swallow who does not seem happy about the attention. There were a number of Mergansers on the Arkansas River this morning – both Hooded and Red-breasted. The Red-breasted couple won the featured image slot because this is a family friendly website. And, of course, we had plenty of Kestrels and Cormorants to keep my shutter snapping.
