The morning finally warmed up enough to get me off the couch and onto the walking trails at Lake Pueblo State Park. Things were pretty mellow today – I think everyone has their nests fixed up and are just waiting for the real work to begin. There was an adult Osprey in the nest by the Swim Beach but the four other nests I am monitoring (Starling (2), Heron and Sharp-shinned Hawk) were all unattended. No Robins were to be seen though I did catch a glimpse of a Spotted Towhee. The two successful bird subjects posted here are a Red-tailed Hawk (featured) and a White-breasted Nuthatch who was very busy. Highlight of the day is the photo (below) of a Rainbow Trout in the Arkansas River. Clear water and bright sunshine teamed up to let me spot the good-sized fish just chillin’ in the shallow end – well away from the fishermen.
