Two sleeping Great Horned Owls are the stars of today’s outing. I found them both sleeping in the same tree but a little ways apart. The one pictured here was snoozin’ in the shade but my feature owl (top) was half in and half out of the bright sunshine. I did the best I could on this initial edit – at least you can tell it is an owl. The Widow Skimmer below was all-in on the sunshine and was very accommodating in its pose.
Sightings:
Birds: Mallards, Swallows, Starlings, Ospreys, House Wren, Northern Flicker, Blue Grosbeak, Killdeers, Gulls, Great Horned Owls, Cooper’s Hawks, Redheaded Woodpecker, Yellow Warblers
Critters: Cabbage White Butterflies, Mule Deer, Prairie Dogs, Tree Squirrels, Grasshoppers, Mosquitoes, Red Ants, Pinacate Beetle
