I did not do an “Official” walk this morning because I was up way before daybreak so I could stand on Lake Pueblo Dam and try to capture the setting of April’s Pink Moon. On the road today to visit family. Here’s a chance to relive March 08, 2022. Pretty much the same stuff as 2024 so far. Environment:Start Time: 2:50 PM Temperature: 39 degrees Sky: Sunshine and clouds – cold breeze. Not a busy day this afternoon at Lake Pueblo State Park. Environment:Start Time: 3:10 PM Temperature: 55 degrees Sky: Sunshine and a few clouds. After three days of heavy snow followed by two days of decent sunshine I finally decided it was safe enough to return to Rock Canyon at Lake Pueblo Stated Park and see how things had held up. Turns out – not too bad. I only saw one fallen branch and no new downed trees. Much better than my neighborhood. Still I took it kind of easy since the unpaved trails were pretty muddy. Environment:Start Time: 7:25 AM Temperature: 37 degrees Sky: Sunshine. This morning’s outing was 100% dedicated to shooting Autumn Color in Rock Canyon. This plan left me out on trail without the equipment required to photograph any but the closest of birds. I fully expected to see Eagles, Hawks, Ospreys, Owls and possibly Emus all cavorting around the park. That didn’t happen for some reason. What did happen was evidence that the Cottonwoods are finally getting into the Autumn spirit. Environment:Start Time: 6:40 AM Temperature: 61 degrees Sky: Sun and increasing clouds. Rock Canyon was bathed in fantastic Golden Hour light when I arrived (a little late) at my normal parking spot. Today’s featured image of the trees bordering the Anticline Fishing Pond is offered as proof. Sadly this glow did not last long. The clouds coming in from the North and East soon blocked the Sun and made further photography difficult.
