Surprisingly warm and sunny conditions got me out to Lake Pueblo State Park for a rare Winter morning walk. Quite a few other folks were of the same mind since I saw many fishermen on the Arkansas River and bicycle riders on the trail. Most of the bird activity was confined to the river (except for the two little guys at the bottom of this post) with the Buffleheads putting on quite a display of diving prowess. Everyone was hungry – the four Gadwalls pictured here were heads down in the water and paid me no mind. Today’s featured image is a Mallard hen who was looking for food in some of the remaining ice on the river’s edge.
