Fantastic conditions (ignoring the breeze) out on the trail this morning. Though I didn’t see a lot, I did see some new things. The big sighting is the featured image today – an American White Pelican! This is very unusual and the last time this happened the bird was injured and not able to leave. I will have to keep an eye on this one to see if it, too, is injured or simply taking a break. Pictured here is a fuzzy shot of a female Belted Kingfisher. This is an extreme cropping of the frame which I shot because I’ve never seen a Kingfisher perch on the ground like this. It is usually an overhanging branch along the river but not for this little lady.
