Environment:
Start Time: 8:20 AM Temperature: 39 degrees Sky: Sunshine with slight breeze.
I made an early start this morning necessitated by a Weather Service high wind warning for later today. I did manage to beat the wind but really got no big reward for doing so. Not a lot happening along the Arkansas River today. I didn’t even see any Mallards! Or Eagles, sadly. I ended up shooting only two birds. First, today’s featured image of a Red-tailed Hawk who was flying low along the treeline making photography difficult. Then I spotted what I am taking to be a Hairy Woodpecker (based on beak shape) who was perched well up in a tree. After getting the perching shot he took off and I just barely got him in the frame for the action shot pictured here.
