Another bitter cold morning necessitated an afternoon tour of Rock Canyon. Though wildlife activity was low I still managed to come home with some decent stuff. For starters – today’s featured image is a Great Horned Owl patiently waiting for darkness. Probably not my best owl portrait but, in my defense, the sun had just set and this wily bird was perched in a tangle of branches. The Red-tailed Hawk pictured below was sitting well off the trail – obviously. There was at least one European Starling sitting in its nest watching the Sun go down. Closing out the post is an okay shot of a female Belted Kingfisher doing her darnedest to avoid being photographed.
