I had to make it out to Lake Pueblo State Park this afternoon because the weather folks on local TV are saying tomorrow starts and stays cold with a snowfall finale. Not that you could tell that by conditions out today – fantastic weather. Once again the birds were playing hard to get. Plenty of ducks (and a Pied-billed Grebe) to keep me occupied, though. Captures for today include the featured image of a Song Sparrow (above) and the aforementioned Grebe. I spotted a group of Bufflehead ducks bobbing in the Arkansas River and decided to try shooting a little video because that is really the only way to truly capture their feeding process of bobbing up and down. That video is posted below with apologies for the shaky hand-held quality.
Sightings:
Birds: Mallards, Gulls, Buffleheads, Goldeneyes, Sparrows, Belted Kingfisher, Dark-eyed Juncos, Pied-billed Grebe, White-breasted Nuthatch
Critters: Mule Deer
Gear: Lumix GH4 , 100-300 mm
