Red-tailed Hawk at Lake Pueblo State Park, Colorado

Ten whole degrees out and four or five inches of fresh snow would usually give me the excuse I need to stay home in bed. But, when I looked out of my window and saw how last night’s snow had sculpted itself onto the trees, I knew I had to strap up and head out. I got to the Anticline Fishing Pond at Lake Pueblo State Park just a bit before sunrise. The Western sky color was amazing. Not many birds were as brave as I so I shot mostly scenery. Mostly white scenery. I did get a long shot of a not well hidden Red-tailed Hawk and there was a Great Blue Heron at work on the Arkansas River though that was probably a testament as to exactly how hungry it was. The featured image is just a little Winter humor since the sign seems more like good advice than a caution,
