No night herons or eagles were to be found this morning. The Great Blue Herons that I saw were all perched pretty high up in the trees. I did get a less common woodpecker than usual – the Ladder-backed woodpecker pictured below. Today’s featured image is a Common Merganser hen flying low over the Arkansas River. I really like the reflection on this shot. And one Belted Kingfisher kept me entertained for a little while – bouncing between two trees and making an occasional stab at the river. I didn’t see him catch anything, though.
